back from melbourne, spent christmas there and it's 2012. i have thought about my new year resolution and hopefully they will be fulfilled. it seems scarier with each year passing by. things seems to get harder or is it because we know more now.

anyway it is quite sian to have the holidays ended while we look forward to the next one as always. dear school, pls treat us well.

almost done packing! looking forward to melbourne even though the temperature may get a little high and spending a very warm x'mas there. it's 6.40pm now and in just a few hours more i'll be on my way there - alone! a first time and hopefully i won't be such a muddlehead and get lost despite my not-very-good sense of direction.

i love the current weather now in singapore - rainy and chilly. you don't get this very often but later i will experience summer weather again. the weather made me very lazy the whole day today and i just spend it watching the tv, watching videos on my laptop or just sprawled across the sofa staring at the ceiling. i then reluctantly continued the packing of the luggage. it's funny how people always pack their bags at the last minute even though it will be a rush later. i think it's the feeling of treasuring the time the luxury of doing nothing now that we can afford to. after the holidays the wrath of school will be there again for us to prevail but till then life as of now is inordinately fair so far.

i hope the trip will be good. fingers crossed!

have been busy with school but the year-end is here so i think i should be visiting here for a bit. a few more days and i'll be flying to melbourne (exciting) and spending x'mas there. it won't be long to 2012. the time really passes far too quickly.

the vicious cycle repeats and as usual the awful dreadful of returning back to school for more horror sigh.

for now i think i ought to just enjoy myself for these two weeks. oh and i got myself a new phone last week. ~happy~

Inside every adult lurks a graduation speaker dying to get out, some world-weary pundit eager to pontificate on life to young people who’d rather be Rollerblading. Most of us, alas, will never be invited to sow our words of wisdom among an audience of caps and gowns, but there’s no reason we can’t entertain ourselves by composing a Guide to Life for Graduates.

I encourage anyone over 26 to try this and thank you for indulging my attempt.

Ladies and gentlemen of the class of ’97:

Wear sunscreen.

If I could offer you only one tip for the future, sunscreen would be it. The long-term benefits of sunscreen have been proved by scientists, whereas the rest of my advice has no basis more reliable than my own meandering experience. I will dispense this advice now.

Enjoy the power and beauty of your youth. Oh, never mind. You will not understand the power and beauty of your youth until they’ve faded. But trust me, in 20 years, you’ll look back at photos of yourself and recall in a way you can’t grasp now how much possibility lay before you and how fabulous you really looked. You are not as fat as you imagine.Don’t worry about the future. Or worry, but know that worrying is as effective as trying to solve an algebra equation by chewing bubble gum. The real troubles in your life are apt to be things that never crossed your worried mind, the kind that blindside you at 4 p.m. on some idle Tuesday.Do one thing every day that scares you.

Sing.

Don’t be reckless with other people’s hearts. Don’t put up with people who are reckless with yours.

Floss.

Don’t waste your time on jealousy. Sometimes you’re ahead, sometimes you’re behind. The race is long and, in the end, it’s only with yourself.

Remember compliments you receive. Forget the insults. If you succeed in doing this, tell me how.

Keep your old love letters. Throw away your old bank statements.

Stretch.

Don’t feel guilty if you don’t know what you want to do with your life. The most interesting people I know didn’t know at 22 what they wanted to do with their lives. Some of the most interesting 40-year-olds I know still don’t.

Get plenty of calcium. Be kind to your knees. You’ll miss them when they’re gone.

Maybe you’ll marry, maybe you won’t. Maybe you’ll have children, maybe you won’t. Maybe you’ll divorce at 40, maybe you’ll dance the funky chicken on your 75th wedding anniversary. Whatever you do, don’t congratulate yourself too much, or berate yourself either. Your choices are half chance. So are everybody else’s.

Enjoy your body. Use it every way you can. Don’t be afraid of it or of what other people think of it. It’s the greatest instrument you’ll ever own.

Dance, even if you have nowhere to do it but your living room.

Read the directions, even if you don’t follow them.

Do not read beauty magazines. They will only make you feel ugly.

Get to know your parents. You never know when they’ll be gone for good. Be nice to your siblings. They’re your best link to your past and the people most likely to stick with you in the future.

Understand that friends come and go, but with a precious few you should hold on. Work hard to bridge the gaps in geography and lifestyle, because the older you get, the more you need the people who knew you when you were young.

Live in New York City once, but leave before it makes you hard. Live in Northern California once, but leave before it makes you soft. Travel.

Accept certain inalienable truths: Prices will rise. Politicians will philander. You, too, will get old. And when you do, you’ll fantasize that when you were young, prices were reasonable, politicians were noble and children respected their elders.

Respect your elders.

Don’t expect anyone else to support you. Maybe you have a trust fund. Maybe you’ll have a wealthy spouse. But you never know when either one might run out.

Don’t mess too much with your hair or by the time you’re 40 it will look 85.

Be careful whose advice you buy, but be patient with those who supply it. Advice is a form of nostalgia.

Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it’s worth.

But trust me on the sunscreen.

i've been thinking about this for quite a while. and it is very true that the people you hang out with, the environment you are currently in, shape who you are. and i don't mean consciously picking thinking what good it'll do hanging out with this particular person. that is just pure evil... haha. i think for the most of it why a group of people or even a pair became really close friends it's because of the similar behaviour that they adapt with each other.

always amazed by the differences of people there are despite knowing that this is just a small portion of a few million others. and sometimes it's interesting to note the disparity between people of same ages in the environment they live in.

What I felt like saying was, ‘I’ve produced my third child and my sixth novel since I last saw you. Aren’t either of those things more important, more interesting, than my size?’ But no – my waist looked smaller! Forget the kid and the book: finally, something to celebrate!

I’d rather they were independent, interesting, idealistic, kind, opinionated, original, funny – a thousand things, before ‘thin’. And frankly, I’d rather they didn’t give a gust of stinking chihuahua flatulence whether the woman standing next to them has fleshier knees than they do. been a few weeks since i've removed my braces
and i like the mould of my teeth the dentist gave me

so now i'm wearing retainers and when i wear it, i sound like i have a short tongue. my lovely friends love me better when i wear them cause they seem to laugh at me when i cannot pronounce words properly. haha kiddingggg. sister still cannot get used to them tho. so finally done with the modules :'-) but i don't particularly like what comes next aside from holidays. well there are the competitions and the change of class and results and possibility of portfolio review and other horrible things. sort of. why so sad hahah can't really enjoy to the fullest when there are always things to worry about.

was talking to xn when i met her and we were talking about how time flies (sounds very cliche and cheesy). she's taking A's really soon and nearing the end of a year ~soon~ we were at mccafe and there were many others studying - mostly O's i think. asked her if she'd rather take O's now and she said anytime man hahahah. it might be harder already however since primary school kids are studying about what DNA-genes-of-some-sort already? i totally cannot remember bio at all. i feel like i've wasted my time at secondary school hahaha. if i knew i'd get a C for all my 3 sciences i'd have taken art. but then again if i knew a lot of things, everything would be different no?

this block has been quite tiring and it's not solely cause of the two mods. my sister asked, "why are they so transient?" i've no idea.

anyway been reading a few blogs last night and maaan, these people are so privileged! the fact that all of them able to travel and study at europe. and well carry designers stuff but that's not the point. all of them write so beautifully... maybe it's the way they're brought up. i realise that they went to really good jcs. so i guess this is the 'elite' part, the other end of the spectrum of a jc kid, something not familiar to me. not trying to mean anything else but that there are really so much more than what i've heard/seen.

reading their blogs make me really envious. i think anyone would. 'why do i not have such a gooood life like that' or 'why am i not in a rich family' etc, makes me sound like a spoilt brat. read this somewhere, "instead of having dreams, why not have realistic goals and work towards them". a lot want/wish to have lotsa things but after whining about it, most just 'that's about it' and not do anything about it. well at least for me. but sometimes it gets very annoying when people keep complaining on and on, doing nothing to improve the situation.

anyway, i guess there are still hard work needed not just all lucky.

went out to have dinner at mandarin gallery at this japanese restaurant, tonkatsu ma maison.

so it's this place where they have awesome pork. that's it. but it was realllllly good. ~soft~ and ~tender~

they got a pig as a mascot and its name is mamebuta

then i asked my sis something, "did we just eat mamebuta..."

it was also national day but i totally missed the whole thing. sigh my first time missing it tragedy. heard it was really cute with all the xiaolongbaos etc.
